The Army Welfare Service
Much of the support available to Army personnel and their families is given through the Army Welfare Service (AWS), a professional and confidential welfare support service for servicemen and women and their families, wherever they are located.
The Army Welfare Service has two main tasks: Community Support and Personal Support.
Community Support
The Army Welfare Service aims to provide Community Centres, Pre-school groups, Youth clubs, Young peoples activities during school holidays, learning opportunities; just about everything the Service community requires. However, none of these things will be possible without your help.
There are lots of opportunities to work with young people both in sport and community activities. Training is provided which can lead to qualifications in Youth & Community work.
See your local Community Worker and volunteer to support your community. You can find the address of your local Army Welfare Service Office or Community Centre in your local Service Community Guide.
